Rachel Kolisi likes post about womanising rugby player
Rachel Kolisi – the ex-wife of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi – has liked and reposted a post about a professional rugby player who confessed to being a serial cheater. The former WAG split from her ex-spouse in 2024, after eight years of marriage. Siya – who has previously confessed to overindulging in alcohol, partying and women –  has since moved on to another woman, Rachel John. RACHEL KOLISI LIKES POST ABOUT WOMANISER RUGBY PLAYER On her Instagram Stories, Rachel Kolisi reposted a clip of a professional rugby player, Luke Bateman, who confessed to being a serial cheater. The Australian former athlete, who played under the Oceanic National Rugby League, claimed that being in a “hyper masculine” environment fuelled his misogynistic attitude.  Speaking in a documentary, Turning the Page, Bateman confessed to mistreating women. “I had cheated on every single partner I had. I  was always competing with other men…so the more women I could get, the more I felt like a man”. Batement also came clean about being addicted to gambling. He continued: “I was so broke … I couldn’t pay for anything. I couldn’t buy groceries. “My gambling slowly progressed [until] it consumed my life. Every single thing I did revolved around that gambling app on my phone.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by ABC News (@abcnews_au) ‘I LOVE GIRLS’ Like Luke Bateman, Siya Kolisi has shared similar struggles. In an excerpt from Siya Kolisi’s 2023 autobiography Rise, the Springbok captain revealed that he had a weakness for women. When he first met Rachel in 2012, he claimed, “I was young, still 20, and full of it. I loved rugby, I loved drinking, and I loved girls.” Siya KOlisi also admitted to being in a relationship with another woman when Rachel caught his eye. He later slid in her Facebook DMs. The Springbok captain also alluded to cheating on Rachel when his Christian mentor Ben Schoeman told him, “Siya, you drink a lot, you fool around with women, you go to strip clubs. You post on social media about your faith in Christ, but you’re lying to yourself and everyone else.”  In his documentary, also titled Rise, the rugby hero also spoke about the side nobody knew – his heavy drinking, frequenting strip clubs, and reckless spending.

R370 a month, 20km to the SASSA office – Northern Cape man’s reality
A Northern Cape man knows what it means to make R370 disappear before the month is out, and unemployment isn’t making it any easier. The man in his late forties supports between three and five dependants on the Social Relief of Distress grant. The R370 payment goes straight to food, and it’s never enough. By month end, he says there’s nothing left in his account. For the past one to three years, this grant has been his household’s main source of income, even though it was designed as short-term relief. Distance adds to the burden Getting help isn’t simple either. He must travel more than 20 kilometres to reach his nearest SASSA office, a trip that eats into an already stretched budget. In a province as vast as the Northern Cape, that distance also limits job opportunities, keeping residents locked into a cycle they can’t easily break. Despite having completed matric and skills in construction and general labour, he remains unemployed and actively job hunting in a region where positions are scarce to begin with. What SASSA could do differently? He rates his overall SASSA experience as adequate. His payments are deposited directly into his bank account, and he’s had no issues with the application process itself. But he says he wasn’t aware of any other support programmes that might help ease the strain, a gap that could be quietly limiting his household’s options. Asked what single change would make the biggest difference, his answer was simple: increase the grant amount. At R370 a month, the SRD grant hasn’t kept up with rising food prices, let alone transport costs or the price of searching for work. For him and millions like him nationally, the grant remains a lifeline, just one that’s stretched dangerously thin. Win R2 000 in the South African SASSA grant survey If you receive a SASSA grant and want to share your story, we want to hear from you. Take part in our survey and stand a chance to win R2 000. Your responses help us tell the stories that matter.
