Ouaddou slams ‘selfish’ Pirates stars after Milford win
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was not pleased with his team’s performance despite their 3-0 win over Milford FC in the Carling Knockout last 16 on Tuesday evening. Tshepang Moremi’s brace and a strike from Thapelo Mokobodi earned Pirates a spot in the quarterfinals. ‘We need to wake up’ “I think the only positive point is the win,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV after the game. “I think I will only retain this victory because I was not happy about how we played. We didn’t have the control. But we had a lot of possession. We were selfish; many players were. Instead of giving the ball to a teammate to score, and they are not in a bad position, they shoot. “A lot of wrong decision-making. The positive point is these three goals and a clean sheet, but to be honest if we want to dream bigger when I say dream bigger, is to win the Betway, win the Champions League. “But if we continue like that, we are going to win nothing, and we have to be honest. I was not happy about the game. The positive point we go to the next stage, but there are a lot of players they need to really to wake up.” Ouaddou unhappy with impact players Ouaddou added that it was unacceptable that Milford, at some point in the game, had more possession than Pirates in their own backyard. “I think I have to check the data, stats, but they cannot have more possession than you here, even if we played three days before a game, maybe a lack of freshness, but we rotate the team, and I think when we’re playing for such a big club, Pirates,” commented Ouaddou. Ouaddou was also not pleased with the impact of his substitutes on the game and said they must wake up before Saturday’s Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium. “We need to wake up, I’m not here to nice people, when we’re playing for such big brand and when we are ambitious to play in the continent, we need to wake up and people need to wake up when we sign the contract for Pirates. We need to give; we need to play another level, to be honest,” Ouaddou said. “This is the high level: when you have the pretension to play the high-level football, you need to be ready every three days in the mind, physically, and you need to deliver, especially the impact players that are making this rotation. I’m expecting a lot from the impact player,” concluded Ouaddou.

JUST IN: Sindile Mfazi murder probe – Ex Saps General Mphego’s court bid fails
Former South African Police Service (Saps) Major General Ntsumbedzeni Mulungani Mphego’s urgent bid to overturn a police raid at his home has reportedly been struck off the roll. He had wanted the raid to be declared unconstitutional, reported broadcaster eNCA. Mphego was granted bail for the unlawful possession of more than 100 rounds of police issued ammunition, including R5 and 9mm ammunition. Application The court divided Mphego’s application into two parts, challenging the legality of the arrest and search warrants used by police to enter his property and conduct the search-and-seizure operation, and the seizure of electronic devices and other items taken from his home during the raid. However, the court struck the application off the roll after finding it not sufficiently urgent. As a result, the police investigation can continue unhindered. Mphego is expected to return to court in November, when the matter will proceed and investigators are likely to provide an update on the progress of their probe. Arrest His arrest earlier this month followed a search-and-seizure operation conducted by members of the Saps National Cold Case Unit at the suspect’s Centurion residence on 6 July 2026. During the operation, investigators also seized documents and electronic devices believed to be relevant to the ongoing investigation into the murder of Lieutenant General Sindile Mfazi. Mphego, 57, is a suspect in that investigation. Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the discovery of more than 100 rounds of ammunition raised serious concerns, particularly because the suspect had left the Saps more than a decade ago. Mphego is alleged to have owned the ammunition without the required permit or authorisation. His legal team said they planned to challenge this claim. Court He appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court a day after this arrest, facing a charge of unlawful possession of ammunition in contravention of the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000. The state didn’t oppose bail, and Mphego was released on bail of R5 000. The court postponed the case to 3 November for disclosure of the contents of the docket. This is a developing story

Ouaddou calls Orlando Pirates players selfish despite 3-0 win
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was not happy despite his team thrashing Milford 3-0 on Tuesday evening. The Buccaneers are into the last eight of the Carling Knockout Cup after another impressive win. Ouaddou called his players selfish having gone 3-0 up in the first half. Although they controlled the game, Pirates failed to add more goals in the second half. “Thank you very much, the positive point I think is the win, I think I will only retain this victory because I was not happy about how we played, we didn’t have the control, we had a lot of precipitation, we were selfish, a lot of players were selfish, instead of giving the ball to the teammate to score -and they are not in a bad position and they shoot,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV. Ouaddou not happy with Pirates players Ouaddou said if the team continues continues with the current path, they might end up without silverware this season. “A lot of wrong decision making, the positive point is this three goals and clean-sheet, but to be honest if we want to dream bigger when I say dream bigger, is to win the Betway, win the Champions League. “I think if we continue like that, we’re going to win nothing, and we have to be honest. So, I was not happy about the game so the positive point we go to the next stage, but there are a lot of players they need really to wake up,” he added. Ouaddou will now turn attention to this weekend’s Soweto derby as Pirates look to go top of the Betway Premiership. Can Pirates win the league?
